My last post send me scuttling to my OED to see if “befilth” is really a word. (Yeah, sometimes things get pretty crazy around here on a Saturday night.) It turns out it isn’t, but I’m giving it to myself as a Christmas present. But let me to point out that the BE- neighborhood of the OED is a playground.

You must have abridged edition. BE-hold!

The BE-neighbo(u)rhood is a playground indeed. (E.g.: bebutterfly, to engross with butterflies.)
Next Word Idol must surely be BE-words!

(1) HEY NO FAIR COMPUTER-AIDED SEARCHING!
(2) No, actually, this is awesome. Not only for the sake of edification, but because it means I can give myself a different made-up word for Christmas. I’ve had my eye on “rundulant” for a while.
(3) My OED is indeed the unabridged one. I am shocked and offended you would suggest otherwise. What do you take me for, a non-beezer? It turns out there is an omnibus entry for all the “BE + something” words. BEFILTH was hiding there. O befilth! Always up to mischief.
