Working on another giant Penguin this morning, and the light was filtering in gorgeously through my shades.
Notes on painting all-caps Gill Sans:

O’s are the worst. As ever, the simplest things are the easiest to screw up. You try to fix a wobbly line on one side, and then it’s out of balance so you have to compensate on the other side, and soon everything’s gone pear-shaped.
S’s are my favorite. They are challenging but fun.
E’s and T’s can fuck off.
Sometimes I find myself holding my breath during a particularly difficult curve or corner. I’m not sure if this makes my hand shake less or more, and I think of biathletes who have trained themselves to fire their rifles between heartbeats, and what a helpful skill this would be.
